How much time is required to pick up a container at the port?

The arrival of the vessel will not result in the instant availability of a container for pickup at the destination

Shipments won't be available for pickup the day the ocean vessel docks. Because many oceangoing ships have more than 10,000 containers on board, unloading can take 1-3 business days.

After the container is unpacked and positioned in the container yard at the arrival port, an FCL shipment will be ready for pickup.

Before it can be picked up, an LCL shipment must be trucked to a Container Freight Station and de-consolidated.

To avoid demurrage fees, shipments must be picked up from the CFS or Container Yard before the Last Free Day.
