For instance, a 44,000-lb consignment might not go over the ocean carrier's 40' container weight limit, but it will go above the weight restriction for trucks in several areas.
In this situation, a tri-axle chassis or possibly an overweight permit would be needed for the shipment. Each shipment that is placed onto a rail will have its own set of weight restrictions.
